Episode Summary
As the holidays and season of giving quickly approach, it’s important that we consider those who may be struggling. This year has been hard on so many people, and for some, they may need immediate help and not know where to go to ask for it. Tara Eusebi is a woman who used her passion for helping others to create a mobile app, Bless, where people can go to both ask for and receive assistance. In today’s episode, we sat down with Tara to discuss Bless. We asked Tara about how Bless came to be, and she explained to us that, originally, she was a businesswoman working in corporate America. One day, someone asked her what her passion was, and she realized that she wanted to help others. In 2018, Tara quit her corporate job to work on Bless. She set up meetings with multiple companies to help build a team of people to help her build the application. On March 25th, 2019, Bless officially launched. When asked how she spreads the word about the app, Tara emphasized to us the importance of sharing it with others who are also passionate about giving back. She told us that when someone is passionate about something, they want to share it with other people, and that’s how word of Bless gets spread around.
When using the app, people can expect to see posts from people within a 50-mile radius. However, the radius can be adjusted so that users can also see posts from people worldwide. Also, just because you don’t see any posts doesn’t mean there aren’t users in your area; people may just be waiting for someone to post. We wanted to know some stories of Bless users, and Tara told us about a single mother who had been fired and was about to be evicted from her home. The mother reached out to Tara directly, and by sharing the post, Tara was able to collect enough money from people that the mother was able to keep her home. We were curious as to how Tara confirms users and requests are valid, and she told us about the “vouch for me” request. A person can send someone, even if they are not a Bless user, a “vouch for me” request, which consists of three questions verifying that the person posting is a trustworthy and reliable person. When asked about where financial donations take place, Tara told us that those making a post are encouraged to share where they would like the money to be distributed, that way it makes it easier for others to donate. We asked about Tara’s vision for Bless in the future, and she told us she envisions Bless becoming a worldwide app. For short-term goals, she wants to make Bless accessible for both phones and laptops, as well as wanting to establish a warehouse where people can donate unwanted items and others who need those items can pick them up at the warehouse for free. She would also like to have a Bless truck that allows people to transport items and help others easily.
Tara Eusebi
Tara Eusebi is the founder and CEO of Bless, a mobile app that allows users to help people both in their communities and around the world. Tara started as a successful businesswoman in corporate America, but when asked what she was passionate about, said that if she could, she’d bless people. After that conversation, Tara was determined to follow her passions. She quit her corporate job in 2018, and on March 25th, 2019, Bless was launched. Users of Bless can post about any service that they need, whether that be financial help, yard work, and more. Other users can then respond to those posts, private message the poster, and offer help. Bless connects people within communities and allows its users to give back to others. It can even connect people worldwide. The App is free to sign up for, and all it takes is to sign up or sign in to get started on giving back.
