ATHLETES OVER 40: SETTING GOALS WITH A ROLLER DERBY QUEEN
No matter our age, we are capable of anything. Today’s guest, Robin Legat, highlights this idea by using her platform to share the stories of current athletes over 40. Her podcast, Seasoned Athlete, interviews athletes over 40 in the hopes of spreading information and even inspiring others to pursue their athletic passions. As a former roller derby queen herself, Robin knows the ins and outs of sports, and shares her knowledge with Colleen and Bridgett. In today’s episode, we discuss roller derby, how Robin’s podcast got started, the story behind her nickname “Suzy Snake Eyes”, and the impact hearing stories from athletes of all ages can have on her listeners.
Robin Legat:
Robin, or as her roller derby friends would call her “Suzy Snake Eyes”, is a former athlete turned podcaster who shares the stories of other athletes over 40 and all backgrounds. After moving to Los Angeles, California and joining a roller derby team on a whim, Robin transformed from an inexperienced skater to a real athlete. She even met her husband through roller derby, and they got engaged in the rink. After eleven years of roller derby, Robin decided to move on and pursue other interests. She started her podcast, Seasoned Athlete, and interviews athletes on their stories and experiences. Through her work, she shows that no matter your age, you can always push yourself and work towards any goal.
