As midlife women, perimenopause and menopause are simply part of the aging process. But for some women, like Clare Shepherd, menopause hits far earlier than expected. At 32 years old, Clare began experiencing symptoms of menopause, having to deal with brain fog, hot flashes, anxiety, and more. Struggling to find ways to cope with her symptoms, she trained as a nutritional therapist and experimented with different dietary and lifestyle changes. Eventually, Clare found a combination of food, life habits, and other simple techniques that significantly helped her deal with menopause. Now, Clare is a founder of the “Know Your Menopause” poster campaign and works as a menopause consultant in the UK, helping women struggling through menopause to find a treatment plan that works best for their body. In today’s episode, we discuss with Clare her personal experience going through early menopause, the “Know Your Menopause” poster campaign, her experience speaking on the floor of parliament, HRT shortages in the UK, and the first steps to treating your menopause symptoms.

Clare Shepherd, like millions of women, has had to experience the emotional, physical, and psychological changes that come with menopause. However, her experience is unique: Clare began going through menopause at 32 years old. Being a young woman struggling with brain fog, anxiety, hot flashes, and more menopause symptoms, Clare began searching for holistic and simple treatments to help manage her symptoms. After research, trial error, and spending three years training as a nutritional therapist, Clare found a combination of diet, lifestyle changes, and other techniques that were extremely effective in minimizing her symptoms. Now, Clare is one of three cofounders of “Know Your Menopause”, a poster campaign that spreads awareness on the symptoms of menopause in hopes of spreading information surrounding menopause in the UK. She also works as a menopause consultant and has helped hundreds of women formulate plans to help treat symptoms of menopause.
