Next, we focus on Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the fear many women have of getting a mammogram. Most women fear the possible discomfort, the unknown aspects of the procedure, the very small amount of radiation or what the doctors may find. We discuss our own personal experiences with these fears and the need for further procedures when indicated. The bottom line is that none of these fears compare to the possibility of finding breast cancer at an early treatable stage. No discomfort, fear or anxiety should keep you from going for your yearly exam. 90% of women walk out with a clear scan. Talk to your doctor, bring a friend or schedule first thing in the morning: whatever it takes to get you to the appointment. Once it is done, treat yourself to something because you deserve it. Get your boobs checked!
